MBABANE: Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini met over ten (10) police officers at the Oshoek Border-the South African side on Friday (6th March 2026) afternoon, the officers were traveling in a police Quantum.
The cops whose Quantum was parked next to a Supermarket operated by Asians were visible shocked to see Dlamini passing next to the Quantum, they then took his pictures using their mobile cellphones.
Dlamini who was from the Supermarket, said he passed through the Quantum knowing that, the cops won’t do anything to him because “he doesn’t owe” them anything.
“I travel freely and would like to encourage them to just take pictures without attempting to grab me because any officer who will attempt to do that and fail will be held accountable, in his or her personal capacity,” said the editor.
The Eswatini Government once tried to have the editor arrested and extradited but the South African Government refused to arrest a journalist, the Mpumalanga High Court dismissed an application filed by the Government seeking to among others, declare that the editor committed acts of terrorism.
