Business Eswatini pushes for fiscal, energy security and fair trade to boost economic growth.

MBABANE: “Business Eswatini has outlined a set of priority advocacy areas aimed at strengthening Eswatini’s economic competitiveness following the recent quarterly meeting of its Trade and Commerce Committee”, the organization for businesspeople and corporate organizations said through a statement sent to this Swaziland News on Tuesday afternoon.

The Trade and Commerce Committee is a Board Advisory structure of Business Eswatini chaired by Anthony Geldard who serves as the Vice President responsible for Trade and Commerce. 

“The Committee provides strategic guidance to the BE Board on issues affecting trade, industry, taxation, and the broader business environment.During its latest meeting, the committee reviewed key developments affecting the operating environment for businesses and adopted a number of resolutions aligned with the Business Eswatini Advocacy Agenda. These focus on strengthening fiscal management, improving tax compliance, and addressing rising energy costs,” reads the statement in part.

On another note, the Committee emphasised the importance of fiscal discipline in restoring investor confidence and ensuring long-term economic stability. 

Business Eswatini further urged the Government to prioritise strategic expenditure management and improve efficiency within the public sector.
