MBABANE: Well-known South African businesswoman and football administrator Shawn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize’s Mbabane Highlanders AM has been found guilty of assaulting a referee and this, was during the recently held Ingwenyama Cup game against Nsingizini Hot Spurs held the Mavuso Sports Ground.
As a result, Mbabane Highlanders has been fined fifty thousand Rands (R50,000.00) and will forfeit the match, the King’s Ingwenyama Cup is sponsored by the Sincemphetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF), a State owned entity under the Ministry of Finance.
But Mkhize’s team expressed serious concerns regarding the ruling citing overwhelming evidence of bias by the referee and in a statement released on Wednesday, supporters have been urged to remain calm and resolute.
“In accordance with the provisions of the competition rules, Mbabane Highlanders AM has formally filed a Notice of Appeal against the decision and will pursue the matter throughout the appropriate channels as provided for within the regulations,” reads the statement in part.
