State Prosecutors under DPP’s Office downgraded and underpaid, Mbabane East MP Welcome Dlamini urges Public Service Minister Mabulala Maseko to urgently review their salaries saying “unhappy employees cannot perform”.

Sunday, 15th March, 2026

LOBAMBA: Welcome Dlamini, the Mbabane East Member of Parliament (MP) urged Public Service Minister Mabulala Maseko to ensure that, all civil servants are happy after the recently concluded salary review adding that, those who want to appeal must be allowed to do so before the July 2026 payment deadline.

But the MP who was speaking during the Public Service Ministry performance report debate, specifically touched on the issue of State Prosecutors who were allegedly downgraded from E2 to D5, he said it was a wrong decision to reduce salaries for the Prosecutors.

“Honorable Minister, Prosecutors are a very critical pillar of the Judiciary, if they are not happy, they are likely to accept bribes and we might see suspected criminals freed just because Prosecutors are not properly doing their job, engaging in a systematic go-slow. Prosecutors might relax the enforcement of the law and the country can’t secure convictions if Prosecutors are not happy. So Honorable Minister, kindly review this decision so that they can be able to meet their financial needs,” said the MP.
