MBABANE: “King Mswati will not protect multibillion Chinese illegal gambling and extortion suspect Reverend Senzo Hlatjwako who is facing arrest,” the Monarchy’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane told this Swaziland News on Saturday afternoon.
The King’s Spokesperson was responding to this publication when asked if the King will protect the suspect amid reports suggesting that, he allegedly sent emissaries to meet the King for “kwembula ingubo” as the police intensifies investigations.
“Kwembula ingubo” is a customary practice where a citizen approaches the King to appeal when facing troubles.
It has been reported that, a warrant of arrest has been issued against Hlatjwako, he stands accused of assisting over one thousand (1000) Chinese nationals and other foreigners to enter Eswatini illegally and at this juncture, police investigators have apprehended about two hundred (200) Chinese nationals and other foreigners.
“We have no record of the king standing between a suspect and the long arm of the law. We therefore have no reasons to think he will protect anyone in this case,” said the King’s Spokesperson.
