MBABANE: Army Commander Jeffery Shabalala said Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini was exposing secrets that opened people’s eyes and were very hard to deny.
This is contained in a highly sensitive electronic evidence where the Army Commander was discussing a plot to assassinate the editor and two pro-democracy MPs that include Mduduzi 'Bacede' Mabuza and Mduduzi 'Magawugawu' Simelane. The electronic evidence exposes other royal secrets where the Army Commander was allegedly summoned by King Mswati into a private meeting where he was told to protect the Monarch at all costs.
“He writes things that cannot be easily disputed, these are articles that instill a rebellious attitude among the people. Such people who are troubling the State are killed, this is a standard practice even in other countries” ,he said.
The Army Commander did not respond when this publication contacted him for a comment, however, in his previous comment, he mentioned that he did not discuss security issues with a person who was not part of the Security forces.
“I don’t talk about national security matters with anybody whose doesn’t belong to the security forces, ask those who told you about it” ,said the Army Commander when responding to a question from the editor.
Eswatini, a tiny Kingdom situated in Southern Africa is facing growing calls for democratic reforms.
