MABABNE: MTN Eswatini has pledged to make a contribution towards to Cystic Fribrosis patient, Nompilo Dlamini’s lung operation.
Nompilo Dlamini (26) a Cystic Fibrosis patient urgently needs to raise at least E 2 million for a lung transplant operation in India and was grateful to MTN Eswatini for joining the #saveNompilocampaign.
Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited disorder that causes damage to the lungs, digestive system and other organs in the body, Nompilo said doctors told her that she had reached an end stage of the disease and was banking on the lung transplant operation to survive. She is breathing through an oxygen machine and her digestive system is not functioning well.
“Right now I’m feeling very emotional and happy because that shows that the country is supporting me, which means everybody wants to see this operation becoming a success. I was beginning to lose hope but MTN is giving me more hope that many more companies will also join and make contributions towards the needed amount of money”, she said.
When reached for comments, Mandla Luphondvo, the Corporate Affairs Manager at MTN Eswatini confirmed the matter but said details of the contribution would follow shortly.
“MTN has considered supporting this cause and will shortly share how exactly, and how much will be contributed”, he said.
Cebile Dlamini, the Secretary General of the Swaziland Rural Women Assembly (SRWA) appreciated the company\'s kind gesture.
“We appreciate what MTN has done, It gives us hope when giant companies like this Telecommunications company give back to the community.We would like to urge other companies to join this noble cause”, said the SRWA Secreatary General.
