MBABANE: Mduduzi ‘Magawugawu’ Simelane, the Siphofaneni Member of Parliament said he was turned back from attending a funeral of one of the victims who were shot and killed  by the police for criticising King Mswati.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Saturday, the MP said the police who were allegedly acting on an order from their superiors turned him back at Hlane National Park on his way to the funeral.

“They just told me that they have received an order from their superiors that I should be stopped from attending the funeral. They even failed to produce an instrument to that effect, for me it would be useless to blame the police officers who executed that order. I have every reason to blame the person who issued that order, whomsoever issued that order its high time they understand that they are causing chaos in the country”, said the MP.

A police car then escorted us for over 25 km to ensure that we don’t use alternative routes to the funeral”, said the NNLC President.

It has been disclosed that many citizens who were transported by buses to the funeral were turned back by the police who acting on a command from their Commander in-Chief.
