PUDEMO President wants defense mechanism for the youth against police brutality

Monday, 30th August, 2021

MBABANE: Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) said the youth in various communities must be trained to defend  themselves and other community members against the ongoing police brutality.

Speaking during a collective briefing live on Swaziland News on Sunday, the PUDEMO President said the sentiments suggesting that people must be advised to participate in peaceful marches created an impression that the citizens were violent when in fact it was  Mswati\'s regime that unleashed  force on the citizens.

“We must emphasize about this ‘peaceful march’, which we have never understood because our people have never been violent, if anything at all, the people who are violent is  Mswati’s regime that continues to unleash rude force on our people. We are playing into their hands by over emphasizing about a peaceful march, we must just call for a march because our people are peaceful when they march,” said the PUDEMO President.

On another note, Sibongile Mazibuko, the President of the Ngwane National Liberatory  Congress(NNLC) called for the boycott of all businesses owned by King Mswati, she said people must avoid supporting these companies.

The Political Parties Assembly(PPA) is organizing a protest march on the 6th September 2021 to intensify the calls for democratic reforms.
