NOKWANE: Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo, the Spokesperson of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force(UEDF) has refuted information suggesting that resigned Army Commander Jeffery Shabalala is wanted by the military police for betraying King Mswati and revealing State secrets.
When asked by this Swaziland News on Monday to clarify on the allegations, Khumalo said the matter had not reached her office, she maintained that it was far from being the truth.
“The UEDF Public Affairs Office, would like to acknowledge and thank you for seeking clarity on the alleged matter. Nkhosi, it is far from the truth, My office can safely respond that it is indeed not factual”,said the Army Spokesperson.
But senior intelligence insiders within the Army told this publication that after removing security and State vehicles from Shabalala, there was an order suggesting that he must be arrested and be questioned by the military police for revealing State and King Mswati’s secrets.
“Actually, the King is very angry and felt betrayed because he doesn’t know what other information you might have. So it was suggested that Shabalala must at least be arrested and appear before the military police so he could explain what else he disclosed to that woman” , said an insider within the army.
Army Commander Jeffery Shabalala was allegedly forced to resign by King Mswati after this publication released an electronic evidence where he disclosed how the arrest of pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) was plotted by the King. In the evidence, Shabalala further spoke about a plot to assassinate this editor whom he accused of writing critical articles about the King.
It has been disclosed that Shabalala was in possession of critical information that implicates the King in crimes against humanity, he was instrumental in implementing an order to shoot and kill dozens of civilians during the recent pro-democracy protests.
