MBABANE: Senzo Dlamini, the Royal Science and Technology Park (RSTP) employee has been forced by circumstances to remove his child’s picture from his WhatsApp profile as members of the public demand answers.
Dlamini, a pro-Tinkhundla journalist who worked for the Times of Swaziland allegedly threatened to shoot teachers union President Mbongwa Dlamini for demanding democratic reforms.
He also insulted Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini who is critical of the current regime saying he was not a journalist.
Reached for comments earlier, SNAT President Mbongwa Dlamini confirmed that Senzo Dlamini threatened him over his political beliefs.
“He first claimed to be a soldier when he threatened to kill me and I later gathered that he was a journalist of the Times. Whenever there is a story in the media where I was quoted calling for democracy, he would attack me even in our Manzini Wanderers WhatsApp group”, said the SNAT President .
It has been disclosed that Senzo Dlamini, whose home is situated at Elangeni was using his cell phone number 76070050 when he attacked the teachers union President.
When this publication tried to reach Senzo Dlamini for a comment, he answered the call and kept quiet for a moment after learning that it was the editor who was calling him. He later posted on the Manzini Wanderers WhatsApp group saying there were people who reported him to Zwemart.
Reached for comments, editor Zweli Martin Dlamini said as an editor, like other political activists and trade union leaders, he remained the servant of the people and if anyone threatened and disturbed his duties, he would report to the public and the people would decide on what to do.
“We are the servants of the people, if anyone disturbs the work we are doing, we will report back to our Masters(the public) and they will decide on what to do. People were killed in this country for calling for democracy and any threat against us will be taken seriously. We don’t promote violence but we appeal to members of the public to protect us in any possible way from people like Senzo Dlamini who disturb our duties,” said the editor.
