Judge Mumcy Dlamini ‘washes’ her hands, says decision to release arrested pro-democracy MPs is elsewhere

MBABANE: Judge Mumcy Dlamini has ‘washed’ her hands regarding the bail application of arrested pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs), saying the powers to release them lies not with the court but elsewhere.

This comes a few weeks after this Swaziland News released an electronic evidence substantiating how King Mswati ordered the police to arrest MP Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube merely for demanding democratic reforms.

In a judgement delivered on Tuesday, Judge Dlamini stated categorically clear that   there was no need for the court to make a determination whether there were new grounds for the new bail application.

“In the result, there is no need for this court to make a determination whether there are new grounds  for the present bail application. I find that this court is functioning officio. Applicants remedy, if any lies not with this court but elsewhere in this regard” ,said the Judge in his judgement.

Reached for comments, Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) said the country did not have independent courts.

“Even the King himself is a beneficial of the castration of the courts. Swazis must never expect justice from Mswati’s courts, instead they must use other means to democratize this country and free the MPs. Going to court under Mswati’s regime is just a gimmick ritual of nothingness, it’s now all in our hands”, said the PUDEMO President.

Eswatini, a tiny Kingdom situated in Southern Africa is ruled by King Mswati, as an absolute Monarch with Executive, Judicial and Legislative powers, political parties are banned from participating in elections. The King appoints the Prime Minister, Judges, Ministers, a majority of Senators and all members of the various Governing Councils.
