HOSEA: Hosea High School students engaged in a protest action on Wednesday demanding that King Mswati must step down and release their arrested pro-democracy Member of Parliament(MP) Bacede Mabuza.
The Hosea MP was arrested together with Ngwempisi MP Mthandeni, they were both leading calls for democratic reforms in Parliament.
The students started the protest around 12 noon on Wednesday and went on to lobby others in nearby schools to join the protest, teachers fled to their homes.
Speaking to this Swaziland News, Mbongwa Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) confirmed the protest by the students, adding that issues of calling for democracy did not have an age limit.
“It’s true the students at Hosea engaged in a protest, issues of democracy and freedom do not have an age limit”, said the SNAT President.
Eswatini, a tiny Kingdom situated in Southern Africa and ruled by Mswati as an absolute Monarch is facing growing calls for democratic reforms.
