MBABANE: A man who has been attacking King Mswati on social media for almost ten(10) years was ignored by State controlled newspapers until he started criticizing pro-democracy Member of Parliament(MP) Mduduzi ‘Magawugawu’ Simelane.
Monty Nkosi who is based in America earned himself a space on the front page of the Times of Eswatini on Friday after taking on the pro-democracy MP accusing him of collecting money from people abroad without accounting how the monies were spent.
“Give us a PowerPoint presentation on how that money was spent, from UK alone you received E100,000.00”,Monty Nkosi said in a video circulating online.
But the MP, in a public statement posted online denied the allegations suggesting that he received the said amount but clarified that he would be grateful if such resources could be provided as many people were in need.
“I will thank him if there are resources that he will mobilize from our friends in the UK but for now let me make it clear to those who may be lost that I have not recieved the said money but I will really appreciate if it does come for there is need. About him humiliating my wife saying Lazwide is happier now that I'm away, the least said on that the better,” said the MP.
Questions were sent to Martin Dlamini Dlamini, the Managing Editor of the Times of Eswatini, however, he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Reached for comments, Mbongwa Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) said it was clear that the Times was captured after ignoring all the things Monty has been posting only to entertain him now that he is causing division among the progressives.
“It’s clear that the Times was captured, Monty has been posting all these years and they ignored him. Now that he is attacking the MP trying to cause divisions in the progressive movement, they found that newsworthy. People have been suffocated by media capture for many years, that’s why social media is becoming more popular”, said the SNAT President.
Monty Nkosi has been posting online accusing Mswati of killing citizens, looting and abuse of power among others, however, he was never covered by the State controlled media until he started taking on pro-democracy MP Magawugawu.
