MBABANE: Fanelo Zikhali,  a Deaf Lives Matter activist said deaf children were being denied their right to education.

Speaking to this Swaziland News, the deaf activist said many parents in eSwatini were denying their deaf children access to education and some sent them to school very late.

“This affects their intellectual and academic development as well as their ability to learn a language. A language is learnt at a very young age, so  those who deny their deaf children the right to education must face the law”,he said.

Efforts to reach Sipho Dlamini, the President of the Disabled People Organizations proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

Dlamini, in an earlier interview told this publication that people living with disabilities felt neglected by the Government in eSwatini, despite the existence of the Disability Act, they felt government was doing nothing to improve their welfare.
