LOBAMBA: Ludzidzini Palace Governor Lusendvo Fakudze has. out come to clarify the allegations levelled against Queen Mother Ntombi Tfwala during the on-going South African Commission of Inquiry into State Capture.
This follows submissions made by former South African Ambassador to Netherlands Bruce Koloane before the Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo Commission.
“The mother of the King of Eswatini landed on a few occasions at Waterkloof for private medical visits, just process what criteria they used to allow her to land; she is neither an officer bearer, politician or a Head of State. It’s a fundamental responsibility of defence,” said Koloane.
But Ludzidzini Governor Lusendvo Fakudze, when speaking this Swaziland News said Koloane was ignorant by labelling the Queen Mother as less important person.
“That South African man (Bruce Koloane) is ignorant. The Queen mother occupies a very important position in the Swazi Nation. When the King leaves the country to overseas, the Indlovukati takes over the Throne. Their positions are similar, she is the second most influential person in the country and the third one is the Prime Minister, ”said the Governor.
Pro-democracy organisations said the exposure of the Queen during the Commission of Inquiry in South Africa came in the midst of concerns locally regarding her trips that are allegedly costly for the taxpayers. Wandile Dludlu, the Secretary General of Peoples United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) said the exposure on the Queen Mother has shown the behaviour of the Monarchy.
“It validates our assertion that the Monarchy in Swaziland elevates themselves above the Nation. Another factor is that, why is it that every corrupt leader in Africa and elsewhere has a direct relationship with the Swazi Monarchy? Swazis and the world must interrogate this.” he said.
