MBABANE: Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule said as the church, they had a religious obligation to speak the truth at all times and condemn any form of injustice.
Speaking to this Swaziland News when interviewed by editor Zweli Martin Dlamini, the Bishop said he was aware that there was a Pastor who mentioned that Pastors must not involve themselves in politics.
“As the church, we must speak the truth at all times. Many servants of God in the Bible like Joseph were hated for standing for the truth, the church should speak against any form of injustice. In this country, people were killed, others are disabled, we must speak against that”, he said.
Bishop Nkambule said the church must guard against situations whereby the truth would be replaced by lies portrayed as the truth. He maintained that the was no way they could keep quiet while people were killed in the country.
The sentiments of Bishop Nkambule came after Pastor Bakhe Dlamini, a former member of the Jesus Calls Worship Centre was quoted by the Times saying Pastors must not involve themselves in politics.
Eswatini is facing growing calls for democratic reforms, the country is ruled by Mswati as an absolute Monarchy.
