HOSEA: Arrested pro-democracy Member of Parliament(MP) Bacede Mabuza’s Foundation has donated food hampers to seven chiefdoms under Hosea Constituency.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Friday, Hosea Indvuna yeNkhundla, Richard Vilane said he successfully coordinated the donation after receiving an instruction from the MP even thou he was hiding from Mswati forces who are looking for him for supporting arrested MP Bacede Mabuza.
“This donation comes after the police invaded families at Hosea and destroyed their food. Police vandalised their homesteads and assaulted the even elderly. The people are happy with the donation and are fully behind their arrested MP”,he said.
Vilane further confirmed that the MP assisted those who were arrested adding that another organization, the Foundation for Social and Economic Justice contributed money for bail and fines for his community members who were arrested and convicted in the midst of the pro-democracy protests.
Reached for comments, Thabo Masuku, the Executive Director of the Foundation for Social and Economic Justice(FSJ) confirmed that as an organization, they assisted a number of families at Hosea.
“It’s true, we assisted many families at Hosea particularly those whose food and homes were destroyed by the police” he said.
Eswatini, a tiny Kingdom situated in Southern Africa is facing growing calls for democratic reforms. On the forefront is Hosea Member of Parliament (MP) who was arrested together with Ngwempisi MP Mthandeni Dube for calling for democratic reforms.
King Mswati’ police then invaded homes at Hosea Inkhundla and terrorised those who are believed to be in support of their arrested MP also forcing Hosea Indvuna yeNkhundla Richard Vilane into hiding.
