SHEWULA: Learners from Shewula High have this morning burnt down a Police Post after police allegedly shot and injured their colleagues with live ammunition.
Speaking to this Swaziland News, Siboniso Mkhabela , the Leader of the Pro-Change Movement at Lomahasha confirmed the matter but said he was still investigating for more details.
A source close to the matter said the students started protesting before the morning assembly and went on to disrupt operations in neighbouring schools.
“As they were protesting and rolling a water tank, a CID officer, Blood Nxumalo, fired shots that hit Thabiso Nhlabatsi on the thumb and Samkeliso Matimakhulu on the thigh. Seeing that their colleagues have been shot, the learners marched for about 2 km to the Police Post where they burnt it's two structures and a police house”,said the source.
Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson had not responded to our questionnaire at the time of compiling this report.
