Is the UN eSwatini waiting to count dead bodies again before taking action against Mswati?

Thursday, 14th October, 2021

Ms Nathalie Ndongo-Seh, the United Nations eSwatini Resident Coordinator has first hand information regarding the shooting and killing of civilians by Mswati’s security forces but she decided to undermine the lives of Swazis again by issuing a statement that doesn't make sense.

Perhaps, it is worth mentioning that one is tempted to conclude that some of these diplomats are soft towards Mswati’s regime not because they don’t know what is happening on the ground but they want to sound more diplomatic while people are being killed by this regime.

Even though we do have some information suggesting that the UN eSwatini Resident Coordinator has been holding meetings with the King, top government and security officials, it is important that these engagements be made public for transparency purposes.

Nathalie must understand that releasing endless press statements on behalf of the UN does not stop Mswati’s forces from killing people in the rural areas and towns, Mswati must be forced out of power.

Indeed, if the United Nations is a democratic organization, it must conduct an investigation to ascertain who elected Mswati to hold the position as Head of State, why should Swazis be killed for demanding democracy?

I have read two press statements from the UN eSwatini since the political unrest started and it seems  like the Resident  Coordinator Ms Nathalie Ndongo-Seh is here for a honeymoon not to promote the interests of the UN of ensuring that people around the world including eSwatini enjoy a better life under a political environment where human rights are respected.

The UN is the most powerful organization that ensures peace and stability around the world while ensuring that human rights are respected.

The UN must just assist in facilitating peaceful protests by those who support the King and those who want democracy and the numbers will demonstrate to the world whether Mswati is a legitimate leader or not.

During these protests, the UN must ensure that security officers are not shooting or intimidating citizens but must escort protesters to voice their grievances against this government.

King Mswati was never democratically elected by the people and I don’t understand why the UN continues to perform a political massage to a dictator who stands accused of killing.

The UN must recall Ms Nathalie Ndongo-Seh if she came here to be tourist on a honeymoon vacation, this country needs diplomats who will take decisions in the interest of the people not to politically massage a dictator.

In conclusion, it is important to remind Swazis that their freedom will not come from the UN and other organizations, they have an obligation to free themselves and elect a democratic government that will prioritize the needs of the people not Mswati.
