SITEKI: King Mswati's army disrupted a peaceful march here at Siteki, a small town in the eastern parts of eSwatini.
Thousands of Siteki residents marched to Siteki Police Station on Friday, they were demanding answers regarding the death of businessman Nhlanhla Kunene who was allegedly killed by the police for breaking the curfew.
Siboniso Mkhabela the International Relations Officer within the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) said the police were ready to listen to them only for the army to disrupt the meeting with bullets .
"Everyone knew that we were coming back today to collect our answers on who killed Mr Nhlanhla Kunene ,only to be meet with guns nd bullets from the army.
Atleast 4 people were shot by the army using state guns and they were rushed to Good Shepered Hospital.We have been heavily assaulted and chased by guns by the army and we had to run for cover at the Police station for protection and our own safety yet we didn't do anything", he said.
Efforts to reach Tengetile Khumalo, the army Spokesperson proved futile at the time of compiling this report.
Eswatini is in the midst of a political crisis as the calls for democratic reforms intensify. King Mswati unleashed his army on unarmed citizens and innocent citizens are killed for just breaking a curfew.
