LOBAMBA: Petros Mavimbela, the Speaker in the House of Assembly allegedly disappeared in an attempt to prevent Members of Parliament(MPs) from discussing the arrest of MPs Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube.
As a result, the meeting was chaired by Nkilongo MP Timothy Myeni who condemned the conduct of the Speaker saying his disappearance at the time when the country was in serious crisis was very disturbing.
“It is very disturbing that the Speaker can call us as MPs and later cancel the meeting after we arrived in Parliament. Bahlonishwa, we are meeting here to discuss the ongoing unrest, the arrest of Mthandeni and Bacede and Gawuzela who is out of the country. The issue of petitions in the midst of the political unrest, school children are not in school and people are being shot and killed”, said the Nkilongo MP.
The MPs continued to discuss the issues in a meeting known as a caucus and they came hard on the Speaker who earlier blocked a pro-democracy motion a few weeks ago. MPs who were part of the caucus include MPs Marwick Khumalo, Robert Magongo, Ndumiso Masimula, Manzi Zwane, Muzi Kunene and Jacob Siwela among others.
