Mbabane CEO grants permit, civil servants to march to the Public Service offices on Wednesday.

MBABANE: Civil servants will march to the Ministry of Public Service on Wednesday to deliver a petition demanding a salary review among others.

In terms of the Public Order Act, 2017, Gideon Mhlongo, the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the Mbabane Manicipality granted the civil servants permission to march on the streets of Mbabane to deliver the petition on Wednesday.

“In terms of the powers vested in the Mbabane City Council by virtue of the above-mentioned Regulations, you are hereby granted a permit to conduct a march form: 1. Coronation Park, to Gwamile Street turning into Msakato Street, to Zwide Street, to Mahlokohla Street, turning into Makhosikhosi Road, to Sozisa Road, and to Umlilo Road(between Ministry of Agriculture and Fire and Emergency Services) to deliver a petition to the Ministry of Public Service”, reads the letter from the Mbabane CEO addressed to Convenor within the Swaziland National Association of Teachers.

Reached for comments, SNAT Secretary General Sikelela Dlamini confirmed that the protest march would take place tomorrow(Wednesday) and urged civil servants to attend in numbers.

“It’s true that we have been granted the permit and as a result, the protest march organized by the Public Sector Associations(PSAs) will take place tomorrow(Wednesday)”, he said.
