MBABANE: Pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Mthandeni Dube and Bacede have tabled demands to King Mswati before any political dialogue that seeks to resolve the ongoing civil unrest.
In a public statement sent to this Swaziland News by their South African Correspondent Attorney Sicelo Mngomezulu in collaboration with human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko, the MPs stated categorically that they wanted all exiled Swazis including MP Mduduzi Magawugawu Simelane to return home before the commencement of any political dialogue.
The MPs further demanded that among others, all political activists who were charged and have been out on bail for the past ten(10) years to have their charges withdrawn unconditionally. The pro-democracy Legislators further demanded to be released and that their charges must be withdrawn immediately.
“The arrest warrant and any charges drawn against MP Gawuzela Simelane must be unconditionally withdrawn and he must be allowed to return home as a free man. All charges brought against political exiles, some of whom have been on bail for over ten years must be fully and unconditionally withdrawn”, read the statement in part.
Government Spokesperson Sabelo Dlamini had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
The MPs further demanded that all Swazis who were being hunted by armed forces or their agents for expressing their political views must be allowed to come back home freely.
