MBABANE: Lawyer Martin ‘Internesh’ Dlamini has urged King Mswati to demonstrate commitment to a political dialogue by releasing the incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube.
This comes after SADC Troika Chairperson Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the King has agreed to facilitate or be part of a dialogue to resolve the ongoing political unrest.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Thursday, the lawyer said as the dialogue was expected to involve Parliament and other stakeholders, the MPs who started the drive to elevate the political system must be released.
“These are the people who started this drive to elevate our political system and now we all acknowledge that they should be released forthwith. Even if government still intends prosecuting them in any given future. This will also restore confidence and automatic peace countrywide the schools will automatically open unconditionally, the Institution of the Monarch will regain its dignity and respect”, said the lawyer.
President Cyril Ramaphosa, the Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community(SADC) Troika on Politics, Defense and Security confirmed through a statement that eSwatini would soon embark in the process of facilitating a dialogue.
