MBABANE: Sive Siyinqaba National Movement says government cannot be trusted with drafting the terms of reference for the highly anticipated dialogue that seeks to end the current political unrest.
Sive Siyinqaba is one of the political organizations that form part of the Political Parties Assembly(PPA), an alliance of political parties working collectively to democratize eSwatini.
In a public statement sent to this Swaziland News, former Senate Deputy President Ngoma Gamedze, the Acting Chairman of the National Movement said as an organization, they fully embraced the establishment of a national dialogue forum but with certain reservations.
“We believe that the foundation upon which the dialogue forum is built, should be solid as a rock, otherwise short cuts by the State with selfish interests embedded into the whole project, can only exacerbate an already volatile situation”, read the statement in part.
The political organization stated categorically that the reason eSwatini was experiencing a civil unrest was that government was not answerable to the people and therefore, the very same government cannot craft the terms of reference for a political dialogue on behalf of the people.
Government Spokesperson Sabelo Dlamini had not responded at the time of compiling this report, reports suggests that he has been appointed as the new Director of the State owned radio station.
But Cabinet sources told this publication that he was still at work and might resume in his new position in the next coming days.
”He is still working as Government Spokesperson and might leave in the next coming days”, said an insider within Cabinet.
Meanwhile, President Cyril Ramaphosa, the Chairperson of the SADC Troika on Politics, Defense and Security confirmed in a public statement that eSwatini would soon embark in the process of a political dialogue to resolve the ongoing political unrest.
