MALINDZA: Over 200 protesting residents including women here at Malindza have been away from their homes for almost a week now.

The residents are sleeping in the bushes in demand for compensation from King Mswati after the construction of his Airport which allegedly damaged their houses.

They said they have been patient with Mswati’s Government for almost twenty years and instead of receiving their compensation on Friday, they were told to elect a Committee to deal with the matter.

Speaking to this Swaziland News Muzi Mamba said they knew about the dirty tricks of this government of electing useless committees to kill time.

"All we know until we get incontacts about our compensation, no operations will be done by Inyatsi because you are making a joke out of us and our children”,said Mamba.

The residents complained that their houses were damaged during the construction of the King Mswati’s International Airport.

Mjibhi Fakudze, a resident of the area said they have given this government enough time.

Mduduzi Magagula, a Member of Parliament(MP) for the area said it was not true that there was no report about the people's grievances because this report was tabled by the consultant in 2019 and the government knew about it. 

“It comes as a surprise now that the team from the government knows nothing.I think the government officials are here to test the waters, because they know  the community people want their money",said the MP.
