MANZINI:The Management of the Southern African Nazarene University(SANU) allegedly instructed security guards to remove King Mswati, Queen Mother and the Prime Minister’s pictures from the walls after students threatened to burn the institution.

This comes after Colani Maseko, the now influential  President of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) issued a warning to all Universities in the country to remove Mswati’s pictures saying the youth particularly students no longer recognized him as the King.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Monday, the Students President confirmed that the pictures were removed as per the warning.

“As young people and students, we don’t want Mswati and his pictures on the walls of this institution and we have taken that position. Actually,as we are now waiting for a democratically elected President whose picture will be placed on the walls, we want all Universities to remove Mswati’s pictures and if they fail to do that, we will do it ourselves”, said the Students President.

Efforts to reach the Management of the Southern African Nazarene University (SANU)  proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

A video in possession of this publication shows the security guards removing the pictures from the walls, this comes in the midst of a political crisis in this tiny Kingdom.
