MBABANE: Mphandlana Shongwe, one of eSwatini’s remaining struggle icons says Swazis will soon return to the streets to demand a neutral ground for a political dialogue not Sibaya.

This comes amid reports suggesting that King Mswati who stands accused of killing dozens of protesting civilians, wanted the political dialogue to be held within his Ludzidzini Royal Residence.

Shongwe, a founding member of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) said the debate about Sibaya hosting the dialogue was not complicated adding that Swazis know what do if they want a neutral ground.

“We are talking about a dialogue now because we engaged in protests and we will do the same to demonstrate that we don’t want Sibaya but a neutral ground. This is not a complicated issue, we will sort it in the streets”, said the struggle icon.

Meanwhile, King Mswati had earlier mentioned that he would never dialogue with Swazis whom he referred to as dagga smokers, however, as the protests intensified, SADC forced him to agree to engage those calling for democratic reforms.
