Protesting Malindza residents continue to sleep in the forests, demand R46million from Government.

MALINDZA: Malindza residents have now spent more than three(3) weeks of homeless nights in the forests in protest, they are demanding R46million compensation from Government.

The compensation is in respect of damages after Inyatsi Construction, a company that was engaged by government to construct King Mswati’s airport, the blasting from a nearby Quarry Mine destroyed their houses.

Speaking to this Swaziland News , Mapompi Fakudze the Chairperson of the residents said they were aware that soon they would be sprayed with teargas for standing up for their rights. 

“It’'s a matter of time before they send the the army to wipe us off like what they did to our houses because it's not a matter of affordability but it's an issue of not taking us seriously and we don't  exist", he said.

Reached for comments, Mduduzi Magagula, the Dvokodvweni  Member of Parliament (MP) said they were working on the matter adding that Government was not truthful.

"We shall tomorrow (Wednesday) in Parliament select a committee to tackle this issue because government says all these issues were taken care of yet its not true.Now we have agreed to have part B of an investigation on the Malindza  people", said the MP.
