Armed men invade Pigg’s Peak police Station at night, forcefully grab guns.

PIGG’S PEAK: Armed men invaded Pigg’s Peak police station on Sunday night and grabbed guns from police officers who were on duty.

An eye witness very close to the matter who sent pictures of the dramatic scene to this publication alleged that one of the armed men later grabbed a Madza 3 from a woman and used it as a gateway.

However, the speeding car later crashed at Bahloli area less than five kilometers from the Pigg’s Peak town, after a dramatic chase and the driver managed to escape leaving one police gun within the car.

It has been disclosed that the other gunmen who were companions used other alternative means to run away.

“It has just happened now and I have sent you some pictures. As you can see the pictures, a gun was found inside the crashed car after the gunman who was driving ran away”, said the source very close to the law enforcement agency.

Even though the information reached this investigative journalist on Sunday night, this Swaziland News later conducted more investigation and verifications to ascertain what actually happened.

An independent investigation conducted by this publication, uncovered that on Monday at around 0700hours, children who were on their way to school discovered a phone that was ringing next to the accident scene, they grabbed it using a plastic and handed it over to the police. Other details surrounding the discovery of the phone cannot be revealed to protect our source who shared the information.

Efforts were made to reach Police Spokesperson Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, however, she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Reached for comments, Sibongile Magagula, the Pigg’s Peak Ward one(1) Malandalahle Councillor confirmed the matter, saying as residents they started hearing gun shots between 9pm- 10pm on Sunday after the alleged gunmen invaded the police station.

“It’s true that gunmen invaded the police station and we started hearing gunshots yesterday(Sunday) between 9 and 10pm. The shooting continued for some minutes and we later gathered that the people who invaded the police station were wearing balaclavas”, said the Pigg’s Peak Ward one(1) Councillor.
