PRINCE SIMELANE DIRECTIVE: Mbabane Town Council denies trade unions permission to march in town.

MBABANE: The Municipal Council of Mbabane has once again denied Public Sector Associations (PSAs) permission to march across the city to deliver a petition to the Ministry of Public Service.

In a letter dated the 7th the December 2021 and addressed to the convener, being the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) , the Municipal Council denied the unions permission to march across the city as per the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Prince Simelane's directive.

"Kindly be informed that following a directive recieved from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to indefinitely suspend the issuance of permits for all processions within urban areas, dated 21st October 2021, Council denies your application to assemble at the Mbabane Coronation Park and to utilize public streets for procession", reads the letter in part.

When reached for comments, Sikelela Dlamini the Secretary General of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) acknowledged receipt of the letter adding that they were still to deliberate on the way forward.

“Yes we recieved the letter from the Municipal Council of Mbabane ,we are yet to deliberate on the way forward", said the SNAT Secretary General.

Public Sector Associations (PSAs) on Wednesday 15 December were planning to march to the Ministry of Public Service to deliver a petition to demand the Salary Review, an end to the causalisation of the labour force , union bashing among other issues.
