MBABANE: Phumelele Dlamini, the Liphimbo LaboMake representative at the Multistakeholders Forum said Sibaya was not suitable for women as it was discriminatory in nature.
Speaking during the Political Parties Assembly's(PPA) press conference on behalf of the Multi-Stakeholders Forum at the Mountain Inn on Tuesday, Dlamini said women were only allowed to attend Sibaya under certain conditions, therefore, they were rejecting it.
“Women are not allowed to go there when they are on periods. This automatically compromises our voices as women since a lot of us will lose out on this dialogue just for being on periods. In that forum women are also not given the same opportunities to speak as men, speakers are just selected anyhow without taking the issue of gender balance into consideration", said the Liphimbo LaboMake representative during a press conference held in Mbabane.
Eswatini is in the midst of a political crisis and is currently preparing for a dialogue that was facilitated by the Chairman of SADC Troika on Politics, President Cyril Ramaphosa.
