MALINDZA: Leaders of the Political Parties Assembly(PPA) visited protesting Malindza residents on Friday to donate food.
The residents have been sleeping in a forest for over a month, they are demanding R46million compensation from King Mswati’s government after their houses were damaged during the construction of his airport.
Political parties affiliated to the PPA include the Ngwane National Liberatory Congress(NNLC), the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO), the Swaziland Democratic Party(SWADEPA), Sive Siyinqaba and the Communist Party of Swaziland(CPS).
Other political entries affiliated to the PPA include the Economic Freedom Fighters(EFF) Swaziland, the Swaziland People’s Liberation Movement(SPLM) and the People’s Front.
Reached for comments, Wandile Dludlu, the Secretary of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) who also serves in the PPA Secretariat said as political leaders they went there to donate food and offer support.
“We went there with the Multi-Stakeholder Forum to offer support to the residents, we also donated food and they appreciated the gesture. We will also visit other oppressed communities”, he said.
Political leaders who were present during the donation include PUDEMO President Mlungisi Makhanya, NNLC President Sibongile Mazibuko, People Front’s (PF) Thandaza Silolo, NNLC Chairman Thamie Hlatswayo, PUDEMO Secretary General Wandile Dludlu among others.
The Multi-Stakeholders Forum was represented by human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko.
