MBABANE: Colani Maseko, the President of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) has issued a strong warning to King Mswati, he is demanding the release of incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) before the dialogue.

Speaking to this Swaziland News, Maseko said the youth, from pre-school to the universities, would make eSwatini ungovernable if the incarcerated pro-democracy MPs Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube were not released to participate in the national dialogue.

The Students President further warned the King not to dare dictate terms of the dialogue to other stakeholders adding than he must attend the political engagements as an equal political player eager to find solutions to the ongoing political crisis not a dictator.

“We will soon launch our program of action to make sure eSwatini becomes ungovernable until the incarcerated MPs are released and that Magawugawu and other political exiles are allowed to return and participate in the dialogue. As the youth, from pre-school to the Universities, we will make this country ungovernable if these MPs are not released. We also want to state categorically that those political leaders who will participate in the dialogue will not dictate to us to accept the Monarchy under the new democratic government, that will be decided by the Swazis”, said the Students Union President.

Thabile Mdluli, the Deputy Government Spokesperson had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Eswatini is in the midst of a political crisis after King Mswati allegedly unleashed soldiers and the police to shoot and kill dozens of protesting civilians merely for demanding democratic reforms.

The Human Rights Commission released a preliminary report suggesting that forty six(46) people were killed during the political unrest.

But civil society and the various political parties alleged that they had evidence suggesting that over one hundred(100) people were killed with over seventy (70) already identified.
