MAPHUNGWANE: The struggle of life for Logwaza Matsenjwa and Joanah Matsenjwa, the destitute and sickly couple is almost over as generous Swazis and international donors has provided food shelter.
This comes after this Swaziland News published a story about the plight of the elderly couple of Maphugwane in the poverty stricken Lubombo region. Swaziland, now eSwatini has about 70% of the population living below the poverty and according to the World Food Programme(WFP) an estimated number of 700 000 people don’t know where the next meal will come from. The donors who responded to the plight of the couple include the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT), a resident of the United Kingdom who preferred not to be named, Mlandvo Ndwandwe, South African citizen, businessmen Asif Patel, Abu Dashu, Nakib Joga, Mohsin Dashu and other Indian business community members based in Manzini. The donors created a whatsap group shortly after reading the story Online, the donations collectively amounts to over R15,000.00 and it include food, building material and cash that would be used to buy groceries for the couple in the next coming months.
