PUDEMO announces memorial lecture in honour of late President Mario Masuku.

MBABANE: The People's United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) has announced the 'Mario Masuku Annual Memorial Lecture’  in honour of their late President.

Mario Masuku, the former PUDEMO President passed away in January 2021 and was the long serving and founding leader of the party.

In a statement issued by Wandile Dludlu, the PUDEMO Secretary General, the political party described Masuku as a fearless servant of the people who would get arrested in  several occasions but would never be convicted for any of the crimes that were fabricated by King Mswati's regime.

PUDEMO has taken a decision to always observe the memory of Cde Bhambatha annually during this time with a lecture that shall be termed as the ‘Mario Masuku Annual Memorial Lecture’.This year the event will be held in the Shiselweni region on a date and venue to be soon announced", reads the statement in part. 

In eSwatini political parties remain banned and are not allowed to contest for political power. Political activists are killed for merely protesting and demanding for democratic reforms.
