MBABANE: Princess Sikhanyiso, the Minister of Information, Communications and Technology(ICT) sent insulting messages to Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini calling him a toad.
A toad is a common name for certain frogs, especially of the Bufonidae family, that are characterized by dry, leathery skin, short legs, and large bumps covering the parotoid glands.
The Minister sent the insulting messages after the editor published an investigative article on Wednesday alleging that the Princess and her mother Inkhosikati LaMbikiza were rushed to Mbabane Clinic amid a poisoning scare within the royal family.
The Swaziland News editor said he first received a call from one of the Princess’ brothers who pleaded with him to write another article suggesting that the Princess and her mother had recovered.
“I told the Prince to tell Sikhanyiso to call me because she has my number and make a public comment that she had recovered.A few minutes later, Sikhanyiso sent me a message calling me a toad. I don’t have a problem with the insults because I understand that being sick is a very painful experience particularly if your sickness attracts the attention of the media.I can only wish uMlangeni a speedy recovery”, said the editor.
Princess Sikhanyiso declined to comment after being approached by this publication, she opted to blast the editor.
In January 2020, the Princess sent threatening messages to the editor and subsequently unleashed police officers to torture him. This was after the editor exposed a plot by the Princess to remove the then Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini from power, the PM later died mysteriously.
