MBABANE: King Mswati through Government and the courts is now appealing Judge Doris Tshabalala’s ruling that was in favour of incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube.
The MPs were arrested merely for demanding democratic reforms after an order allegedly issued by Mswati, they are facing politically motivated criminal charges.
Reached for comments, Sicelo Mongomezulu, the South African Correspondent Attorney representing the pro-democracy MPs confirmed that the State had filed papers to appeal Judge Tshabalala’s judgement.
“I can confirm that the Registrar of the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice of Swaziland have filed an Application for Leave to Appeal the Judgement of Justice Doris Tshabalala handed down on 29 December 2021”,said the lawyer.
Reached for comments, Mduduzi ‘Magawugawu’ Simelane, the President of the Swaziland Liberation Movement(SWALIMO)urged the nation to take Bacede's words seriously when he said:
“For our freedom we count on the Nation”.
The SWALIMO President said the government was vigorously working towards strengthening the injustice against the MPs by delaying the case.
“What we see is proof that the King and his government are doing all they can to strengthen injustice,torture and in-still fear and regret to the freedom-fighters”, said the SWALIMO President.
