MBABANE: Busi Mayisela, the Chairperson of the Swaziland Liberation Movement(SWALIMO) says the Times of Eswatini took pictures of her private home and published alleged false information suggesting that her home would be sold.
Speaking to this Swaziland News, the SWALIMO Chairperson confirmed that she was owing Nedbank but clarified that the home whose picture was published by the Times was not the one under auction.
“I own many houses and the home whose picture was published by the Times on Sunday was not the one under auction, that’s my children’s home. My children are now confused and traumatized after a Times journalist Welcome went to my home and took pictures and claimed it was under auction. This was also done so that I can be seen as homeless after joining the calls for democratic reforms”, said the SWALIMO Chairperson.
Martin Dlamini, the Managing editor of the Times of eSwatini had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
It has been disclosed that no effort was made by the journalist to balance the story and verify if the picture of the house he published was the correct one.
Political activists and independent journalists in eSwatini are facing persecution by the police and State controlled journalists as part of Mswati’s machinery to discourage political activism.
