Eswatini dictator jails students leader who called for his removal from the Throne.

MBABANE: King Mswati has jailed Colani Maseko, an influential students leader who called for his removal from the Throne.

Eswatini, a tiny Kingdom situated in Southern Africa is ruled by Mswati as an absolute Monarch with Executive, Judicial and Legislative powers.

Political parties are banned from participating in elections, human rights activists, protesting citizens and independent journalists are arrested, tortured and killed merely for advocating for democratic reforms.

Maseko, a student at the Nazarene University in Manzini about forty(40) kilometers from the capital city, Mbabane urged the King in his various public address, to surrender power.

”We want to remind Mswati that under a democratic government, the Monarchy will not exist”, said the Students Union leader.

But recent crackdown on political activists, independent journalists and leaders of the students movement intensified after King Mswati openly told those calling for democratic reforms that everything in eSwatini belonged to him.

“I am reminding them that everything in eSwatini belongs to the King”, said the absolute Monarch when addressing his regiments at Engabezweni Palace.

Colani Maseko, the President of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) was subsequently abducted by over ten(10) armed police officers at Manzini and subsequently charged with Sedition, he was later remanded into custody by Mswati’s controlled courts.

The abduction of Maseko comes after this Swaziland News published a series of articles exposing how Mswati’s government plotted to arrest the Students Union leader.
