MANZINI: Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) said Swazis must demonstrate as from Thursday night that they wanted democracy.
Addressing students who at come to deliver a petition at the Manzini Regional Police Headquarters, demanding the release of incarcerated Students Union President Colani Maseko, the PUDEMO President said the time for meetings was over adding that Swazis should go out and fight.
“We must start from tonight to demonstrate that we want democracy,also we are pleading with Awuviva Nxumalo to show us the images of the people who tortured him,there is no democracy without heroes.I appeal to all parties to engage to the next gear and stop all these meetings we are busy with, let us go out and demand democracy”,he said.
On Monday, over ten(10) police officers abducted Students President Colani Maseko and charged him with sedition and malicious damage to property and on Tuesday another student leader Sakhile Awuviva Nxumalo was abducted by Mswati’s police and tortured with an electric cable.
Eswatini is in the midst of a political crisis after King Mswati declared war on those who are calling for democratic reforms.
