MBABANE: The Swaziland Action Group Against Abuse (SWAGAA) has noted with great concern the increase of intimate partner violence cases since the beginning of the year.
This comes after recent media reports suggesting that Sharon Neves the Manager at the National Emergency Response Council on HIV and AIDS (NERCHA) was murdered by her boyfriend.
In a statement released on Friday, Sakhile Dlamini, the SWAGAA Communications Officer said it was important to understand that intimate partner violence was a cycle and therefore, murder was the end result.
“As a society we need to stop making excuses for cases where women are killed by their partners. There is no excuse, no reason or justification for killing a person. We are constantly seeing a trend of perpetrators willingly presenting themselves to the police without fear of the law, confident in the impunity that is being enjoyed by offenders", reads the statement in part.
