MBABANE: Incarcerated pro-democracy Member of Parliament(MP) has been certified physically fit to stand trial by a doctor within the Correctional Services.
This is contained in a health report shared with Judge Mummcy Dlamini and lawyers representing the pro-democracy MPs.
As a result, the trial continued on Wednesday at the High Court in Mbabane.
Reached for comments, lawyer Sicelo Mngomezulu confirmed that the doctor produced a report that certified MP Mthandeni Dube as physically fit to stand trial.
“He is physically, psychologically and medically fit to stand trial”reads the report that was confirmed by the lawyer.
The matter surrounding the health condition of the MP has been a subject of public opinion after it emerged that he was sick and denied access to health care. However, lawyers clarified that he was not sick, but the MP later told the Judge on Tuesday that he was sick.
Subsequently, a doctor within the Correctional Services concluded that MP Mthandeni was not sick.
