MBABANE: The Administrators at the Mbabane Clinic have issued a directive banning relatives from visiting patients in an effort to try and mitigate the leaking of high profile patients information.
This comes shortly after this Swaziland News published story suggesting that King Mswati’s ‘Chief Propagandist’ Percy Simelane was admitted at the clinic in a critical condition.
Nonhlanhla Dlamini, a mother to a patient admitted at the clinic said she has been denied the right to visit her child as the Administrators felt members of the public leaked information to the media.
"If royalty wants to buy the clinic and make it a private property for themselves let them do so and stop playing with our emotions. How can they deny us the right to visit our loved ones when they are fighting for their lives? This is so unfair" she said.
Efforts to reach the Clinic's Administration for comments proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
Reached for comments, Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi said she wasn't aware of the matter adding that hospitals were still restricting visits due to the COVID-19 regulations.
"People are supposed to respect confidentiality even for their own relatives, you can only talk freely about your own health status and situation.I would strongly encourage the Nation to respect that illness privacy is for all of us,"said the Minister.
