EU, US Ambassadors to grace One Billion Rising event on ending Violence against Women.

MBABANE: European Union(EU) Ambassador Dessislava Choumelova and United States(US) Ambassador Jeanne Maloney are expected the grace an event organized by One Billion Rising, a women rights advocacy organization.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Friday, Colani Hlatjwako, the Africa Coordinator of One Billion Rising confirmed that the diplomats including the Deputy Prime Minister Themba Masuku are expected to grace the event to be held at Damaseko Primary School, at Ngonini under Nhlambeni Inkhundla.

“We have seen more rapes, more domestic violence, more abuse, more exploitation, more trafficking, more hunger and death, more femicide, more loss of reproductive rights, and more and more violence. The violence of discrimination, of exclusion, of poverty, of inequality has been severe and unrelenting hence the the reason to rise for the protection of women’s bodies”, said the One Billion Africa Coordinator.

Other high profile people who are expected to grace the event include Macford Sibandze(Manzini North MP), Lubombo MP Lorraine Nxumalo, Hhohho Regional MP Nokunceda Bujela-Menser and  SWAGAA Programs Officer Hlobsile.

Other women rights activists Nondumiso Dlamini, Nonhlanhla Dlamini and Tizzie Maphalala will be on the panelists.
