LOBAMBA: Marwick Khumalo, the long serving Member of Parliament(MP) told Finance Minister Neal Rijikernberg to just forget about increasing the Pay As You Earn(PAYE) while workers are financially struggling with low salaries.
Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, the Lobamba MP said in his budget speech, the Minister acknowledged that workers had not received a salary increment over the years, he wondered where would the money to be deducted by Government as Pay as You Earn come from.
“The Minister must just forget about increasing tax, that will never happen. I don’t think he will receive support from this House. We must keep a close eye on those MPs who will support this”, said the Lobamba Member of Parliament.
Khumalo urged the Finance Minister to reduce tax so that people could have money to spend adding that the citizens were already suffering financially, due to indirect taxation through fuel and electricity among others.
