MBABANE: Mswati’s Government has launched the maintenance of roads amid protests and public outcry over the non-delivery of social services.
Reached for comments, Mduduzi Magawugawu Simelane described the on-going maintenance of roads by government as a window dressing exercise, he said three months later, most of the maintained roads like those from Siphofaneni to Maloma were already in a bad situation.
“We need a Government that will truly prioritise true service delivery to the roads of the nation not this joke they are doing. After our immense pressure they did it on the Siphofane-Sithobela road. It didn’t take 3 months and the road is back to its situation. This is window-dressing and fooling our people. We need the tar-roads leading to their palaces to be built for the people period”, said the SWALIMO President.
The office of the Government Spokesperson posted pictures and a brief statement online updating the public regarding the maintenance of roads.
“The Ministry of Public Works and Transport continues with the rehabilitation of the MR1 Motshane-Matsamo road. The rehabilitation includes the patching of potholes & rehabilitating of road failures in selected areas. The Ministry will also be installing road signs and doing road marking on the full stretch of the road once the rehabilitation of the surface is completed”, reads the online statement.
