CPJ lists injured Swati NewsWeek journalist Nomthantazo Maseko among international women under threat.

MBABANE: Nomthantazo Maseko, the Swati NewsWeek journalist who was assaulted by Correctional Services officers when covering violent protests at the  Matsapha Maximum Prison has been listed among ten(10) journalists under threat.

As part of the International Women’s Day, the Committee to Protect Journalists(CPJ) listed Maseko among women journalists who have faced retaliation or threat because of their reporting.

Reached for comments, Nomthantazo Maseko, the SwatiNewsWeek journalist appreciated the support she received locally and internationally after being assaulted by the warders.

“I would like to appreciate not just only the international support but even the people who assisted and took me to hospital after being assaulted by the Correctional Services officers”, she said.

Maseko was assaulted for covering the protests where members of the Swaziland Liberation Movement(SWALIMO) were heavily assaulted by the warders.
