Bus fare, food prices hike looming as Mswati’s government announce another fuel price increase.

MBABANE: Dorcas Dlamini, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy has announced another fuel hike with effect from Thursday midnight. 

In a statement seen by this Swaziland News dated 1st March 2022, the Principal Secretary announced the increase of unleaded petrol by 140 cents.

“The industry is advised that unleaded petrol will increase by 140c/l whilst Diesel 50 ppm and paraffin will increase by 160c/l", reads the statement in part.

Reached for comments on the possibility of bus fares hike, Sabelo Dlamini,the Secretary General of the Swaziland Local Kombi Association(SLKA),said they were yet to meet for a way forward as an association. 

“We are planning for a meeting on Friday  to deliberate on a way forward", he said.

It has been disclosed that the increase was influenced by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
